51ÉçÇø Us
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) administers awards issued by government agencies and other institutions of higher education for sponsored research, programs, and projects. The mission of ORSP is to support the 51ÉçÇø community by developing and maintaining the infrastructure needed to support the research and training activities of the College, developing the institutional capabilities for research and public service, identifying sources of support for sponsored projects, developing, and implementing training programs for proposal writing, developing institutional policies that relate to sponsored activities, assisting with the proposal development.
For all sponsored projects, 51ÉçÇø is the official awardee and retains the overall responsibility for award administration. Therefore, all proposals for external funding must be approved by the institution prior to submission to a funding agency. The Principal Investigator (PI) is responsible for the design, integrity, execution, administration and reporting of the sponsored project and acts as a representative of the institution. PIs cannot enter into binding agreements for sponsored projects without institutional approval.
51ÉçÇø is a member of the Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP), a cooperative initiative among federal agencies and institutional recipients of federal funds to reduce the administrative burden associated with research grants and contracts. The contains publicly available data, including general institutional information, audit reports, rate agreements, contacts, registrations, certifications, and assurances.

Human subject research is any study involving human subjects, including survey questionnaires. All human subject studies are subject to IRB review regardless of the purpose, extent, context, or source of funding for the study. Research initially undertaken without the intent of using human subjects, but later proposes to do so, must comply with these procedures.
The 51ÉçÇø IRB reviews research conducted by our faculty, staff, students, and outside researchers. All researchers must show proof of human subjects research training. Researchers from other institutions wishing to conduct studies on students, faculty or staff at 51ÉçÇø must submit an application to the 51ÉçÇø IRB even if an IRB review was completed at their home institution (in accordance with Protection of Human Subjects, 45 CFR 46, part 46.114).
Use the appropriate application to submit your request for IRB approval prior to undertaking the planned study:
Applicants should allow at least four weeks for review.
